San Pedro Park

San Pedro Park

A scene from San Pedro Park in San Antonio, Texas.

This view of the park shows what was once a public pool. I believe the pool was originally feed by the active springs in the park. (The largest of the springs are located at the far end of the pool, and aren't really visible in this shot.) It was later converted to a traditional style chlorinated pool. As you can see, it's now fallen into disuse.

San Pedro park is the second oldest municipal park in the U.S. It was declared public land in 1729 by King Phillip V of Spain.
