This view of the park shows what was once a public pool. I believe the pool was originally feed by the active springs in the park. (The largest of the springs are located at the far end of the pool, and aren’t really visible in this shot.) It was later converted to a traditional style chlorinated pool. As you can see, it’s now fallen into disuse.

San Pedro park is the second oldest municipal park in the U.S. It was declared public land in 1729 by King Phillip V of Spain.

I had a great time – the weather was perfect, and the park wasn’t very crowded.

From Brazos Bend State Park. I visited the park briefly last weekend. I had never been there before. It’s an amazing place!
